It may be hard to believe, but Christmas is only a few days away. While for many people, this time of year means staying indoors, watching TV with family and doing plenty of eating and drinking, if you are in the process of moving house it can be a pretty worrying and stressful period instead. If you are due to complete on your new property in between Christmas and New Year, in our latest blog post we've put together a couple of helpful tips to make the experience as easy and hassle free as possible - leaving one less thing for you to worry about and giving you more time to enjoy the festive season to the full!
- Planning ahead is key:
Don't leave confirming your moving day to the last minute so that you have plenty of time to get everything sorted!
- Be prepared for bad weather:
Ensure that you have plenty of salts to hand for paths and driveways so that on moving day you (or your removals team) can move items between your house and the removals van safely!
- Be organised with your packing:
Make sure you start early, pack items efficiently (see our previous blog post for tips to help you) and make sure each box is labelled properly too so that you know where
everything is once you get to your new place!
- Give your utility companies plenty of notice that you're moving:
Make sure gas, water and electric companies know your moving date so you can ensure everything is ready to go once you get to your new house.
You don't want to risk not being able to switch on the lights or the heating, especially if it's cold!
- Find a friend or family member who can look after your children or pets during the move:
We're sure that your little ones would rather spend time playing with their new toys and you can be rest assured that any furry family members won't be getting
under your feet, while you focus on getting things sorted!
