House Removals - Frequently asked questions

  1. I haven't got my moving date confirmed as yet - are you able to just pencil me in for now, and I'll let you know?

Please wait until your moving date has been confirmed before you contact us to book your removals service - unfortunately we do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm that we have availability to conduct your move until a 20% deposit has been paid. Please also kindly note that we require full payment for the job two days in advance of your move.

  2. Will you place my furniture where I've asked once we get to my new property?

Although our staff will always try to arrange the rooms in your new property to your liking, given how busy we are on moving day, unfortunately we will not have the time to continually rearrange your rooms for you. With that in mind, it is always best if you have a clear idea of where you would like your furniture to be placed in advance so that we can ensure we get it right the first time!

  3. I've got gas cylinders and flammable liquids - can you transport them for me too?

Unfortunately for insurance reasons gas cylinders and flammable liquids cannot be transported on our vehicles, and so you'll need to make other arrangements for them to be moved. Please also make sure that equipment such as garden mowers and chainsaws are drained of all liquids beforehand too!

  4. Do you need me to unpack my chest of drawers?

If the unit is sturdy enough, we may be able to move it with light items such as clothing and bedding left inside. However, please remove any books, magazines and breakable items in advance! In addition, self-assembly furniture does not respond well to moving so please make sure that these items are only moved when completely empty.

  5. Will you dismantle and re-assemble the furniture for me?

Unless this was agreed in advance at the quotation stage, all items will be required to be dismantled and ready to move prior to our arrival. If agreed at the quotation stage, our staff will carry out the dismantling and reassembling of your furniture for you to the best of their ability. It is essential that we know what is required at the quotation stage to allow for the necessary resources and equipment to be provided on your moving day so please make sure that you give us as much information as possible!

  6. Can you tell me how I should arrange for the suspension of a parking bay on moving day?

It is usually the local council who will deal with this matter for you - search online for the correct contact number depending on where you live and where you are moving to.

  7. How much notice should I give you in order to book a removal service?

UK household removals should be booked between 7-14 days in advance of the move, but we always ask our customers to try and give us as much notice as possible so we can ensure we have everything ready to go for you!

  8. What areas do you cover?

We are pleased to say that we cover the whole of the UK from our base in Oxfordshire, and we also do small removals to Europe too!

  9. How much do you charge?

In order for us to provide you with a completely accurate quote for your move, it's always best for us to visit your home to talk through things first, and the cost will depend on things such as packing, access, the size of the lorry and the number of staff required on the day.

  10. Will you charge me for key waiting on my moving date?

If there is a delay and your key exchange occurs after 2.00 pm (or our arrival time at the offload address if this is later), then we will charge £15.00 per hour per member of staff. Of course, if this happens then we will let you have a separate invoice so that you can pass this charge on to the parties responsible.
